I've been using Acronis True Image 8 (TI8) to do my backups on my WinXP PC for years. But recently my PC will not show USB devices in "My Computer". The USB devices do show up in Disk Management and I can access them that way. I haven't been able to figure out why yet.
When I tried to do a backup to an external USB hard drive, TI8 does not show the external USB hard drive. Evidently, TI8 can only see what windows explorer sees.
I tried the demo version of TeraByte Unlimited's "Image For Windows" (IFW) and it found my external USB hard drive with no problem and I was able to do my backup.
I also discovered that the license for IFW allows use on up to 3 home use computers while (as far as I could find) TI-Home-2010 requires one license for each computer.
So I bought a copy of IFW. Just thought I'd share my experience in case it might help someone.
