True Funny Story

I was flipping through an old Reader's Digest reading the "Life in These United States" section.

They are supposedly true stories that readers submit . . . thought this one was hilarious . . . just imagining the scene in my head:

While riding the bus, my mother noticed a young man, who was holding on to the same pole, staring at her. Eventually, he said, "Excuse me. This is my stop."
Since she was not blocking his way, she was confused. "Well, go ahead," she said.
"And this is my pole," he said.
My mother was completely perplexed, until the young man added, "I just bought it at the hardware store to hold up my shower curtain."
And with that, he picked up the pole and carried it off the bus." -Jose G Valdes

And another:

My husband and I were dicussing people's eating habits. A devout meat-and-potatoes man, he listened as I described a co-worker who was a vegetarian.
"Could you imagine never having a steak again," I asked him, "and living on food like tofu, fruit, vegetables and salad?"
"That stuff isn't food," he snorted. "That's what food eats!" -Debra Ussery

I love Reader's Digest . . .
