I got this idea while posting in the Hardware forum. So post your best freaky story here! It needs to meet one condition though. It has to be true! No urban legends, or my friends friend did this, or so forth. So here is mine:

It was the summer of 1996 and during that time I lived in Carrollton, Texas which is a suburb of Dallas. Anyways, I had a season pass that year to Six Flags, so my friend and I decided we had nothing better to do that day so we headed off to Six Flags. I noticed that I was low on fuel, but I figured I should be able to get there and fill up when I get back. The day went along as expected, and we headed back around 5PM that afternoon. The trip takes about 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. Here is where the freaky stuff happens. On our way back, I notice I'm extremely low on gas, but the red light hasn't come up let so I figured I'd just drive slow to conserve gas. About 2/3 the way home on the highway, I notice that my car isn't accelerating anymore and it's actually decellerating when I press the gas. I look at my dashboard and all the lights are lights are lit up (engine, oil, gas). So here I am on the highway going 55MPH and slowing down to almost a crawl. Luckily, the highway was going down a slight hill and at the end of the hill was an exit. So I pull into the right lane with my hazard lights flashing as I'm rolling down this hill to the exit. I look in my rear view mirror and see another car pull up behind me with her hazard lights flashing waving her arms out the window. Ok, so great, this person will help me if I don't make it to the exit. Luckily I did manage to roll to the exit and there happened to be a Texaco station right there. The other car followed me right to the gas station. Here is where I got freaked out. The lady gets out of her car and asked me... Did you run out of gas too? Is that coincidence that we both happen to run out of gas that the same time? Or is it one of those unexplainable things? Usually, my car tells me if I'm low on gas, but that time it didn't. Weird.

Ok, here's my unusual story of the day:

I'm getting ready for work this morning, and I turn on Headline News. I don't know how many people are aware of the elephant escape at the Denver Zoo, but there was my younger brother on national tv!!! The first scene shows him holding his video cam above people's heads to film the elephant. The second scene shows my bro (without his camera mind you) running for his life!

I'm gonna have to give him a call tonight, lol!

freakiest thing that ever happened to me, the day I learned that humans do have a 6th sense!

I had mowed the lawn the day before, and left my sneakers outside in the garage.

I was going out to do something and I grabbed my shoes. Out of the blue it instantly popped in my head that there was a beetle in my shoe even though I never saw it, and had no reason to think one was in there.

I put my shoe upside down and shook it out, and out fell a beetle!

that is it. Sometimes I get really strong feelings of deja vu too.

Ok, I had this DVD-ROM that burnt out when I changed the IRQ settings on my motherboard. At first I thought they were related, but now I'm thinking it was a freak of nature! LOL :)

(only pakman will get this one)

Ok time to share my wierd story. I haven't told this story to anyone so you guys are getting a treat!

Back in the day when I was around 12 or 13 my Grandma used to live in an old creaky house with lots of rooms. My brother and I used to stay over my grandma's during the summer when school was out. Anyway my grandma designated a room in the back for all the toys. There were two big chests of toys and me and my younger borther would be in and out of that room constantly. Attached to that room was a little 1/2 bathroom. My great Aunt died in that bathroom. My dad never liked going to that part of the house, he is "sensitive" to ghosts. And everytime I would be playing in that backroom I always had my back to the doorway to the bathroom. But I always felt someone else there, in the doorway to the bathroom. Other stuff happened in that house but I will save that for next time.

recently I visited a State Hospital for the first time. This is one of those old (late 1800s) facilities that the State of California operates for mentally disabled people. When I first stepped out of my car, I got the sensation that alot of bad things happened here. have you ever been at a place and feel the bad vibe that envelops that place? That is how it was like....... strange.

I get this almost weekly! It is the wierdest thing.

I also know when bad stuff is going to happen to me. One time I was gonna go down to burger king to pick up some lunch. Well I usually never have my seatbelt one, but right after they gave me my food I [almost unconciously] put on my seatbelt out of nowhere. Less than 30 seconds later as I crossed an intersection somebody ran a read light and I hit them straight on...if I didn't have my seatbelt on I would have gone straight through the window.

Another time when I was like 13 I was going to go ride my motorcycle, and I had to ride the bike on the street for a few miles till I got to the dirt hills. Well for some reason I knew I was going to get pulled over by the cops, I just knew it was going to happen (and I usually never get feelings like this). But I thought naw, i'll just go anyways. Sure enough I got pulled over by the cops...

AaronP,

freakiest thing that ever happened to me, the day I learned that humans do have a 6th sense!

I mean no insult with this, I think it is just interesting, but humans have at least seven senses, so you would be talking an 8th sense.

1 o Sight
2 o Feeling
3 o Hearing
4 o Taste
5 o Smell
6 o Balance
7 o Body Position

Balance is a feature of the inner ear that we take for granted, and body position is also something we hardly ever think about.

Until...

You are stopped for a sobriety check, and the officer asks you touch your nose... and you can't! Like the slurring of the speech, sense of balance and body position suffer from alcohol consumption.

Just thought you might be interested in this tidbit of information. :)
