Got this game last night for the Xbox, and I have to say that it is very fun. Kinda like GTA, and Driver mixed. The fighting is nice, and the missions are pretty cool. My cousin went to arrest this lady, and she pulled out a machine gun, and wasted his a$$😀

Nice game, has some minor issues, but over all It is a great game.
 
I can't choose between Vice City and True Crime 🙁
What are the minor issues you are talking about?
 
I'm really enjoying it a lot, but the collision detection and camera issues have gotten in my way more than a couple of times while cruising for run of the mill street crimes. I hope it doesn't get in the way of a more lengthy mission.

You can't really go wrong with a game that has a Christopher Walken opening voiceover.
 
I have issues with this game. First, even though it's made clear it is NOT a GTA clone, it is close enough in gameplay that it warrants comparison. Therein lies the bulk of problems.

1) Driving physics engine sucks. It's nowhere near as polished / smooth as GTA3. Cars are slow, physics seems off, and the models are clunky.

2) Worst. Clipping problems. EVER. Ive gotten stuck in walls, fallen through objects, and at one point when I drove under a bridge, I was rocketed 300 feet through the air for no reason.

3) AI is about as smart as a breakfast sausage. Criminals will flee, but only make right hand turns, ending up going around and around a block. Others will, upon finding something blocking their pre-assigned path, proceed to run straight into a wall over and over.

4) Apparently this game is not about True Crime in LA, but an alternate, "Sliders" style universe where any negotiable landmarks are missing, there are lesbian rapists and serial killers on every street corner, and any modicum of rationality in the populace has been eradicated. Criminals will surrender at the first sign of your siren only to decide a split second later that getting cuffed is for retards and either escape by jacking a car, or kill you with a burst from an uzi. In other cases, two old ladies having a brawl will break apart and come after you, viciously clawing your eyes out, despite the fact that you a) flashed your badge and b) fired a warning shot.

This game is just BROKEN in my opinion. ANyone want to buy my copy?

Thanks for the post, and any qualms I had about buying GTA pack instead of True Crimes this weekend have now been resolved. I didn't think TC could be as good, but if your post is even half accurate, then it's clearly not as good as GTA.

But yes, not nearly as polished as GTA3.


 
They are 2 completly different games. I love GTA just as much as the next guy, but GTA has issues too. I think the driving is pretty good. The fighting is way better than GTA. I think the weapons, and gunplay are better to. I think they should have polished it up a little bit more. There are clipping issues, and some minor slowdowns. GTA has that awful draw goin on, the fighting sucks, and the weapons are useable.


Also, you can drive 250 miles in this game with NO load time. It takes 30 minutes to drive across the whole city. The scope on this game is grand, and I think the next one will be incredible. This is a great first shot at GTA.

The fighting is flawed and comes down to button mashing.
Grappling is basically useless, and works rarely, if at all. It also inflicts less damage than a few punches. Targeting is iffy and not always reliable.
The driving is flawed because the AI is crap. No one moves out of your way whether or not you have a siren on. People run you over randomly. Drivers will incessantly flatten pedestrians and ram other cars out of nowhere.

I agree this is an admirable effort on making such a large-scale game, but it needs at least six more months of development/beta testing. It's just not finished.

Guess it's time to go back to the store. Kind of disapointed. The game is fun, but locking up isn't.


Your right Amnesiac, 6 more months development would have really made this game alot better!
