i need a socket 939 cooler for my venice. everyone says that a different one is the best, im wondering if someone has done some real tests including all of them. by all of them i mean: xp-120 si-120 9500 ninja big typhoon. im leaning towards big typhoon the most. thanks

things such as airflow in a case, and accuracy of temp probes will skew results. therefore you can't really make it a FACT since everyone's setup will be slightly different.

anyways you can't go wrong with any of those big coolers you listed, they're all very good. it'll just come to budget, and style :)

i have considerably good airflow(power supply fans modded to work as case fans) and with stock cooler i have pretty cool temps. but my venice can do 2.9 but it almost burned the cpu when i tried.

Here you go...Text...Read the whole review and submit the book report.

I want to know if the Star Ice out froze the Freezer7 or if the Hyper48 is really 42 better than the Hyper6+. Does the Rocket Pro take off? Does the Sunflower really follow the sun across the sky? Does a Scraper equal a Tower or a Sonic Tower for that matter? Will a Big Typhoon come along and blow them all away :D

Nahh, The sneeky Ninja crept up with his Katana and chopped'em all up.

Sorry I couldn't do better as I was laughing just thinking about "THE BEST".

There never will be a best for anything comp related, just whats good for the moment...The now.

Check out some of the SPCR reviews.

No don`t check out any SPCR reviews...
SPCR reviews are very slanted towards silence over function.
You cannot get an accurate review from SPCR if the product being reviewed is NOT totally silent!!
Just fact!!!

Not just based on the currency, or timeliness of judgement, but on the variations in definitions, the term "BEST" in most contexts where any opinions might be needed becomes inane without previously defining the criteria for the discussion. Too few young people think in those terms, of course.

If I were building an HTPC to sit in my LR and watch movies on, I would most certainly not want to hear loud or high- pitched fans from across the room. That would greatly affect what defined "best" in that situation. Far better to use "most efficient" when looking for the highest level of cooling afforded!

All things considered, even overclocked, the A64's are so much cooler-running than Intel's last P4's, or even than overclocked AMD XP's, that they don't really need as much cooling capacity compared to those two . .

Not a fact. The Ninja got high marks for running passively or with a low speed fan, 'tis true... but it's a very EFFECTIVE design. They love this heatsink at ocforums, for example, and they slap on much faster fans when overclocking.

While SPCRs priority is on low/no noise, their reviews DO mention the positive and negatives of a reviewed component. They are willing to give props to some PSUs that they wouldn'y recommend as being quiet enough, but they list their other positive features; warranty, stability, appearance, affordibility, etc.
