Exactly why they should make trucks and SUV safer to other cars.

Because two cars hitting each other at a combined speed of up to 160mph would not have killed someone? 😕

You know good well the Saturn never had a chance. The truck most likely just ran over the Saturn.

OK, so if it had been two cars, both would have smacked head on, with neither one able to go over top, resulting in 4 dead? C'mon, it's very hard for the body to survive something like that.

That's very likely. But they have more of a chance than the people in the Saturn did. People in the trucks like the one in the story drive around with very few reprecussions to their actions.

What I want to know is: Why was this a$$monkey still able to drive? 5 DUI's?

I'd go into how the laws to be tougher and/or better enforced regarding DUI's, but I'm too lazy.

If convicted, this would be Sholes' 5th DUI offense.
Anyone else see a problem with this?

i certainly do. i think your first DUI should be a suspended license for MONTHS and HEAVY fines. i dont know the current law, but if it isnt at least that severe, its not harsh enough.

..we've been fooling our selves with booze and cell phones all the while trying to operate machinery (driving)..and now we have drunks talking on cell phones trying to operate machinery(driving). Keep your sell phone handy so you can call 911 when they slam into you..🙁

Suspending a license does nothing. A piece of paper saying you cannot drive is not going to stop someone from driving. Hell, did you guys read the story about the 4 year old who drove. He didn't have a license either! 😉 Unfortunately, I don't know of any other solutions, either.

he may have been suicidal (like the former steelers player who went nuts and did a head-on into a big rig)

a drunk driver killed my cousin and 3 of his friends on their way home from a welcome home party (cousin was soldier coming back from iraq) last year.. sure enough, he survived just fine (was also a pickup slamming into a car)
