Example of Truck
I would like to cover up the bed but not sure what would be better. I've head the tanneau helps with gas milage just cause it reduces wind resistance and is usually pretty light...but almost would like a shell so i could throw a sleeping bag in the back and say "if this truck is a rockin' don't bother knockin' ;)
Any comments?

My vote is for the truck shell. Tonneua covers seem inconvenient went you want to use the bed.

I'm on my 5th pickup now. 1 has had a shell/topper and the other 4 tonneaus. Toppers are a P.I.A. when you need to put something big or oversized in and have to take it off.

Get the shell. Its a lot more secure and looks better than a cover.

They do make some shells easy to remove now as well.

Get a hard tonneau cover. I have one and it can split into 4 pieces when I have to haul something big, but locks (with key) and is very secure when it is on.

there are some good hard tonneau covers that can roll up in themselves or lock out at any point you want...they are expensive, but they're weatherproof, lockable and only take up about 6" of bed room when rolled up completely

You mean a truck cap?

In shrot, you will probably not recoop your money on a truck cap. A $200 tonnou cover though, yes. I got an exTang. It's good and the cheapest I could find.

Fuel economy is up abotu 5%.... not much unless you consider the long term ;)
