(why do they always do this?
they always have to bring out basically identical movies very close together. i mean for e.g. that stupid asteroid movie, what was it called. they had two of them that came out within weeks of each other!!

now they've got this new movie "alexander" which is basically a Troy wannabe, although colin farrell looks like such a dip sh!t compared to brad pitt!

"Alexander" quicktime clip (15.7MB)
"King Arthur" quicktime clip (4.43MB)
"Troy" quicktime clip (19.5MB)

Yeah...it's a great story, and could make a great movie, but I just have serious doubts that Colin Farrell could pull this role off.

It's always been this way, just now the secondary movie is getting better celebrities. Some movies are even rewrites of the same scripts.

Today things are about hopping on what's hot *RIGHT* now and banking, then waiting for the next hot deal. The world seems to have a 15min attention span.

I agree.

Brad Pitt > Colin Farrell.

Of course Brad Pitt is older, more experienced and usually had good scripts that needed great actors. He is there in my list of most anticipated w/ Matt Damon.

You guys are nuts, Colin Farrel is WAY hotter than Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt is like a has been compared to Colin. Yum.

Huh? 😕 Did you read the original post?

Don't forget that King Aurthur movie that is coming out soon as well. Although it doesn't have big name actors like Pitt or Farrell, I would put it in the same class of "same-type" movie as Troy and Alexander.

Same phenomenon happened with A Bug's Life and Antz when they were released sorta close to each other I think 🙂.

it seems like they have been producing "epic" movies non-stop ever since the first Lord of the Rings movie came out 😛

LOL you gotta be kidding!! clive owen?! he's not a bad ass guy! he's the guy who drives BMW's! he is SO not fit for the king arthur role!!! i laughed when i saw him.

although the movie does have keira knightley going for it... <wipes brow>

Mark my words guys... and mark this thread so that you can come back and worship my predicting skills...

Alexander > Troy

But, Troy sucked so it's not hard to write out that prediction.

"Alexander" is an Oliver Stone film. Its going to rock. Since I haven't seen it, I can't say whether or not its better than Troy. But judging by Stone's track record, I would say this is a real strong possibility.

EDIT: I find it interesting that we are comparing three movies, two of which haven't been seen by anyone posting in this thread.

Although Gladiator came out a few years back, I'll say that Gladiator > (Troy + Alexander + King Arthur).

Dammit Saltboy I was gonna mention Gladiator as soon as I read the first post
