Troubleshooting...

Just built a new rig - Abit IC7 motherboard, 2.6 800FSB P4, 1 gig Corsair VS memory, and a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card. The thing was humming along nicely until I tried putting in a Volcano 7+ heatsink and fan.

Then bad things happened - actually nothing happened. Fans, lights, but no BIOS no beep. Had some tech guys check it out and was told that all the hardware was fine, but they wanted $400 to fix it (may have seen an earlier posting regarding this).

So I got it back and started troubleshooting. First thing I did was disconnect all the fans (excepting the CPU fan), 1 stick of memory and IDE drives, reset the CMOS and nothing happened. Tried pulling the video card and no go. Took out all the memory and no diagnostic beeps.

While these tech guys were tight lipped about the problem, they told me that they got it running again. Not sure if this is actually true. I do have reason to believe that the hardware is ok as nothing smells burnt and all the capacitors look fine. From what they told me it was all software and/or BIOS related.

Seeing as I cannot get back to the BIOS, I'm really not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?
