Troubleshooting Question

I put together a PC with an ECS PX1 board and a Pentium D 915. When I fire it up, it boots up and I can get as far as the BIOS, but the PC shuts right down. I've checked to make sure that the chip is in properly, all connections are tight (power) and that the HSF (stock) is properly connected. Any other ideas of what might be causing this problem. I'm all out.

I don't know what's causing the problem, so I thought general hardware was a good place for this thread.

Not much info there to work with, but I would guess maybe a defective power supply?

What are the system specs?

Write down the specs so we can get down straight to the culprit. For preliminaries, premature or sudden shut down can be caused by underpowered PSU, HSF not properly seated, HSF not enough speed, overheating in the CPU, faulty rams, 12V Aux Power not connected and also a faulty mobo.
