troubleshooting my system

ok, last week I had my system up and running, with only win2k on it and when I put 3dmark 2k1 on there I was happy to see a score of 5590. Over the weekend I re-partitioned one of the drives, reinstalled win2k along with a copy of win98, only to use to play games in. Then last night I downloaded the 12.4's and 12.90 drivers for my Geforce3 to try them out and see which one i liked better. well I put the 12.9's on there and ran the benchmark and saw 2290 for a score. I put the 12.41's on there and got about the same result. Then I ran sandra benchmarking to see if I was getting any big system errors, it was telling me something about video transfer, so I went into the bios and checked, but my agp transfer was still at 4x. I have a feeling that I missed installign a driver somewhere, but I have no clue where. What motherboard and video card drivers, and what bios flash, should I have on my system? 1.2ghz (266fsb) athlon, geforce3, epox 8k7a, 256mb ram, 2 40-gig IBM deskstar, linksys 10/100 ethernet, ati tv wonder ve, pioneer 16x dvd, aopen 12x10x32x burner. Everythign else is working fine, i would just really like to get this video card problem ironed out. Thanks

first try using the nvidia detonator 14's. i think those were optimized more for the geforce3. the drivers you should have installed were the drivers on the epox mobo cd (there are upgrades for most of those on the epox support site), directx, video drivers, then whatever else you need.
