Troubleshooting dead case fan

I have an Antec P180b and with it came 3 Antec Tricool Fans. I took the top fan and stuck it in the front for better ventilation and b/c my Zalman cooler for the CPU took up the space that the top fan would have occupied. At first the case fan in question worked fine on the three settings of low medium and high speed. Gradually it stopped working on low and medium altogether. The fan would still work on high but it spun at low speeds. Now the case fan will not work on any speed setting. I have finally pulled it out of the case and replaced it. After pulling it I found that I need to exert a significant amount of force on the fan blades to get them to move at all. Any ideas on what's wrong with this case fan? I'd like to get it back up and running so I have a backup just in case.

Perhaps a component (resistor, diode, etc.) came loose inside the fan and jammed it. Most fans will spin easily in either direction by hand. Fans are cheap. When you are ordering something else, just get another. Not worth messing with.
