Troubles with Netgear router

I have a netgear RT314 router and I updated the firmware last night and it no longer works. I think I messed up. I cannot get into the config settings for the router through explore or ftp to install the old firmware. So I got a serial cable to hook the router to the box through the manager port on the router. But now I am lost. I dont know anything about this. Does anyone here know the next step to take? If you could help walk me through it, it would be much appreciated. My ICQ # is 88978798. Aol is Godlikefool. Thanks

I've done this before, and it's not very difficult... My advice would be to call Netgear tech support and ask them to e-mail you instructions - they've got a document that explains it step by step.

I'd send it to you, but I don't seem to have it anymore...

From their website:
"It is possible that the router can hang in the Telnet process internally after the bin file is flashed. You will need to connect a serial cable to the router and enter it through Hyperterminal.
1. Launch Hyperterminal
2. Select TRANSFER
3. Select Send File. Make sure that the protocol is set to XMODEM.
4. Navigate to the location of the ROM FILE, select it and Press send.
5. Once this completes, repeat steps 1-4 Excpet this time select the BIN file. This flash will take roughly 20 minutes.
6. Once this completes, unplug the router and let it sit for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.

If this does not work
please call Technical Support @ 888 - Netgear
(6384327)"

The instructions they send you if you call are better. I'd still do that...
