Troubles With Audigy

I am encountering some strange problems with my Audigy:

1) When playing back DVD movies using WinDVD or SoftDVD,
the audio is very choppy, with popping noise and
occassional skipping in video. This only happens if I set
the player to output decoded 5.1 signals; SPDIF (to an
external decoder), 4-channel, or 2-channel outputs work
perfectly fine. Note that the AC-3 or DTS signals are
decoded by the DVD software, not the Audigy! So it's not a
problem with Audigy's own AC-3 decoding capability; my
Audigy has trouble simply outputting 5.1 signal already
decoded by my software DVD player.

2) When I set the DVD player to output SPDIF signal, the
Audigy fails to decode the SPDIF (AC-3) signal properly. I
made sure the "AC-3 Decode" is turned on in the
Audigy "Speaker Settings". The AC-3 signal decoded by
Audigy sounds very choppy.

3) When using WinAmp with DirectSound plug-in, Audigy
produces occasional skips during playback. This does not
happen if I use WinAmp's WaveOut plug-in.

4) I hooked up my CD-ROM to my Audigy using the SPDIF cable
(not the analog audio cable!). When playing back Audio
CD's, the audio level of the music cannot be adjusted by
the "CD Digital" control in the Audigy Surround Mixer.
Instead, very strangely, the audio level is adjusted by
the "CD Audio" control, which supposedly only handle analog
input from a CD-ROM.

Troubleshooting Steps Performed Thus Far:

Troubleshoots arranged according to the problem numbers
above, respectively:

1) I made sure the "AC-3 Decode" in the Speakers Settings
is off. That is not the problem. The Audigy does output
5.1 signal decoded by my softDVD player to my speakers, but
the sound is very choppy. I tried just about every value of
the PCI Clock Cycle in my BIOS but it is no help. I have a
DTT3500 and hence a hardware Dolby Digital decoder, BUT the
DTT3500 cannot decode DTS signals. However, my softDVD
programs CAN decode DTS signals, which can then be sent to
the DTT3500 via the DIN cable in digital format, which is
why it is very important for me to get the 5.1 DVD audio
output on my Audigy working. What really puzzles me is
that the 4-channel or 2-channel outputs are fine, only the
5.1 output is defective. Is this a bug in the Audigy
driver? I have NO programs running in the background when
I watch DVDs so the choppy sound is not caused by low CPU
resources. And yes I do have the latest version of the
Audigy WinXP driver!

2) I had a SB Live! 5.1 and it did not have this problem:
the Live! decoded the AC-3 SPDIF output perfectly. The
Audigy does just fine when bypassing the AC-3 SPDIF signal
to my DTT3500 and let it decode via hardware, but it is
bothersome that the Audigy itself fails to decode the AC-3
signal when I turn the option on. Is this a driver problem?

3) My SB Live! 5.1 had no problem with the skipping using
WinAmp with DirectSound, so I've always been using it.
Although the WaveOut works fine with Audigy, WaveOut is an
older technology with inferior audio quality, efficiency,
and effects. It bothers me that the Audigy cannot work
with the DirectSound output using WinAmp. Is this caused
by a problem with the current Audigy driver?

4) This is just toally bizzare. My SB Live! handled each
inputs in the mixer correctly. The signal from an SPDIF
cable to the CD-ROM is handled by "CD Digital", the signal
from an analog CD-ROM audio cable is handled by "CD Audio",
etc. But with Audigy, the "CD Digital" serves virtually no
purpose, while the "CD Audio" seem to adjust everything.
This causes problem because I usually mute "CD Audio" in
the mixer to reduce noise produced by the analog input
jack, and that strategy worked fine in SB Live! But with
Audigy, muting "CD Audio" mutes all CD-Audio, even though I
hooked my CD-ROM through the SPDIF cable! Is this a
misconfiguration by the Surround Mixer 2, or a bug in the
driver?

Sorry this is a long request, but these questions have been
bugging me for a while now and the last support request I
sent did not get a satisfactory response.

Now, I have an OEM Audigy which was purchased from NewEgg. I do not know if my troubles are due to a defective Audigy core or whatever because the OEM versions are supposed to be of lower quality or anything(?) :(

Does anyone else with an Audigy encounter the same problems?

Do you actualyl have 2 sound cards in your system?

Also, how far is your bus overclock? Have your tried stepping it back down?

And try the VIA latency patch, it may help out a little.

Good guess: I do have two soundcards in my system. Or did you read my rig profile? :) It's for both A3D 3.0 and EAX Advanced HD compatibility. I am not sure whether or not I have tried the Audigy without MX300 installed, but I think I have and the bug was there.

My bus overclock is at 143mhz. I did step down to the original 133mhz but it's no help. My multipliar is not changed: 10.5

And the VIA latency patch... is that included in the latest VIA 4-in-1 driver? If so, I have it installed.

try removing one of your sound card, maybe they're having conflict or something...

about your "CD Digital" and "CD Audio control", have you connect the digital AND the analog cable?
unplug the analog cable.. maybe this will help

Also try the Audigy in a different PCI slot,this can sometimes improve performance with audio problems.
