Trouble with X-Fi card in a PC

I helped a relative install an X-Fi XtremeMusic (same one that I have) today, and it keeps getting wrongly identified. It seems to run fine, but I haven't played any games yet. For instance, if you go and use the Software Autoupdate feature, it identifies it as an 'X-Fi XtremeGamer' sound card but it is most certainly not an XtremeGamer card. The install was a bit quirky too, but everything did install with no errors. We installed it in another computer that used onboard sound and it wasn't seen as an XtremeGamer card. Should I just let that go? That sounds very weird to me, so I had to ask.
