Greetings,
I recently decided to reformat and re-install Windows 7 Professional on my media PC (named "Stubby"). The re-install went fine, though it didn't fix my "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" blue screen I periodically get while streaming Netflix or Hulu (I'm trying some to change some voltage levels / settings in BIOS in the hope that it may solve it).
I easily established the homegroup connection with my other Windows 7 Professional based PC (named "Monolith" or sometimes shortened to "Mono") and was able to read files from Mono on Stubby with no issue. Both copies of Windows 7 are 64 bit and legit.
The problem I'm having is that I'm unable to create or write to the drive of my other computer over the network. I removed permissions for "everybody" and added just my name (the login used on both computers). I often am given a flat out permission denied when trying to access folders on Stubby from Mono while I've been fiddling with this stuff. It only seems to let me look inside the folder if I add "everybody" or "homegroup" to the permissions... and I don't want anyone other than myself to access some of the folders.
How the heck do I make it to where I have full permission to read/write while logged in under my name regardless of which computer I'm on? On Stubby, the only location that can be selected is "Stubby" in the advanced sharing window.
This shouldn't be so damn hard. I don't see why I can't just grant root access to myself, set it to "full control" from any location (it won't let me select any location... only the computer it's already on), and read/write files to my heart's content.
I tried adding "//MONOLITH/(My Name)" in Stubby, and it wouldn't take it... this is really proving to be a massive pain in the ass.
On a side note, I can't find where the heck to change the workgroup name / join a workgroup in Windows 7...
