Trouble with Viper II

Yup we all know about the badly written driver for Viper II. One of the major problem I encountered was a known issue with Win ME: the Output Selection tab is missing when the Viper II driver is installed in WinME.

Diamond knows about the problem nd there is a link to a reference driver that supposedly fixes the problem. The problem is: the link is a dead one. And the Diamond people don't seem to bother to fix the link either.

So... anyone knows of a work around or an "unofficial" solution, may be?

Yeah buying a new video card would be a good idea but I am tight on $$$budget$$$. May be I'll wait for another year or so, as far as that goes.

I've tried VIA, s3 and Diamondmm.com and they all seem dead. Probably something wrong with their connection or servers. You might want to wait a little bit and maybe it'll come up later.

Diamondmm.com site is back up. Found this in FAQs:

(23825) - When I installed the Viper II in Windows Millennium I do not get the TV output selection tab.
When the Windows 98 drivers are used with Windows Millennium, the TV output selection option will no longer be available. However, the updated S3 Savage 2000 reference driver available at:
ftp://ftp.s3.com/pub/s3/desktop/410/410_win9x_95112.exe resolves this issue and allow for output selection.
For correct use, set the display resolution to 640x480 prior to changing output modes.

EDIT: Ack, ftp link must be the one that is dead.

Savage Daily news is the defacto for savage related info + great BB. Before I fried my viper2 (great card btw) this was "the place" to go. S3TL enabling was first posted on their site! http://sdn.fgn.com/
