I had setup an internet sharing before that was cabled and had no problem at all. The lady had Verizon, Fujitsu modem and Linksys router with two ethernet cards and some cables. It worked fine and went smoothly.

Today, some one else wanted the same thing but only wireless. So she has Verizon, Fujitsu modem, wireless Belkin rounter, and USB Belkin wireless ethercard. The main computer is cables to the wireless router and the modem.
1) I got the DSL running with the modem and the wireless router and it worked perfectly.
2) Now on to the 2nd computer with the USB wireless network adapter. I cannot get this one to see the router or connect to the internet at all. I tried for 3 hours and gave up and said to come back tomorrow.

I need to do some research and need your help. Here are some of the settings:
The channel is 11.
The SSID is ANY or WLAN
Infrastructure or 802.11b, I have tried both and none of them work. Which one should I select?

I cannot get the computers to network at all. The main thing to get the DSL shared.

Any hints or help is most greatful.
Thanks.

Some miscellaneous suggestions, just in case nobody else can immediately zero in on the likely problem:

Turn off WEP and mac address filtering if they are on, until all is well.

Does the machine with the wireless card work when connected via cable to the router? If not, then you need to work on its software setup.

Is the wireless machine set up to get its ip address dynamically, or do you have it set to a fixed value?

Is there an indication that the wireless card is even being recognized by the pc it is in? Like, are you seeing something that says Wireless connection not available? Does the card show up in device manager? Even though you are not getting connected, there should be signs that the card is in your machine -- if not, then maybe the card is DOA.

Does the wireless machine say it is connected, yet internet does not work?

Any chance you can bring a laptop with an 802.11b card near the router? Or try the wireless card somewhere else? Stuff like this can drive you crazy, because you can spend hours on the configuration, only to find out that something is broken.

Any chance the USB ports are dead? Will other USB devices work on it?

Here are a zillion XP Network Troubleshooting tips you can work through if nothing quick and obvious shows up. Good luck.

-USB port is working. The USB wireless device is recognized in the computer. The network nor the internet is able to connect. The USB wireless device keep on scanning for connection but never turns green for go. All devices are working but won't connect. Don't know what to do.
Thanks.

Do you know for sure that the router is broadcasting? Does the wireless device see that there is a wireless network to connect to, but just can't make the connection? Or does it not see anything, period? On my WinXP laptop, I can ask it to "View Available Wireless Networks." If your router doesn't show up as an available network, that makes me think it isn't broadcasting, period.

Seeing if some other machine, e.g. a laptop, can connect, would sure be helpful, but that may not be easy to do. If it does show up as an available network, but you can't connect, then maybe all security features have not been deactivated. If you've disable WEP on the router, make sure the PC doesn't still have a WEP code for this network.

There isn't a 2.4ghz phone around creating interference, is there? You might try another channel on the router.

You might try resetting the router to its defaults, just in case some some setting got changed somewhere. Maybe there is a security feature enabled that you don't even know about, e.g. mac address filtering. In their default configurations, I think most WAPs are pretty much security-free. Good luck.

There are two phones a few feet from the router. I don't know if I can just take it out just to test.
