Yep..."old news," and it sounds like it's much ado over not much...

From anand's article:
"Intel told me that it hasn’t been made aware of a single failure seen by end users. Intel expects that over 3 years of use it would see a failure rate of approximately 5 - 15% depending on usage model. Remember this problem isn’t a functional issue but rather one of those nasty statistical issues, so by nature it should take time to show up in large numbers (at the same time there should still be some very isolated incidents of failure early on)."

It's good that Intel has addressed this problem and is being proactive about fixing it instead of trying to deny that it exists.

Yap, people who already have (or ordered) Mobo with this chipset have to protect their mental homeostasis.

Some of them will go go into unreasonable tirade over it, and others will developed a solid reality denial system. It OK that is the way humans function by nature.

On the other hand people here that are in the the process of spending $400 (Mobo+CPU) or more on New build should take it into consideration.

Do you want to be among those that will fall into the 5-15%?

So I suggest to hold "your horses" until every thing around this issue is clarified.

I don't disagree with holding your horses...This is definitely something that needs to be fixed...and it sounds like Intel is being very proactive on the problem.

As has been noted in many threads, Newegg, Dell, and others have already pulled the inventory from their on-line stores.

Newegg (and others) pulling inventory really throws a wrench into my guide thread. Then again, they're probably pulling hair over the fact that they just lost a huge chunk of business, no more $300 P67 sales, no more $300 i5/i7 sales.

All the SB CPUs are Out of stock, I wonder why?

Never the less I think that we should relax for few days and see what type solutions coming up.

Just like if a PC boots in 30 sec. instead of 20 sec. is Not the end of the world so a delay in upgrading to P67/SB (Not the end of anything).

As for the dealers, as the saying goes. "One day honey, One day onions". :hmm:

Not to mention it doesnt affect SATA 6Gbs nor would it affect a cheap add on SATA controller.
