You are doing everything right.. There is a problem with the network onboards card and the way its being controlled by the newer drivers of nvidia... I have a n7js chaintech ! I had the original BIOS 11 28 2002 and after upgrading to their 5v i just got the BSOD and never booted.. After repairing xp and installed the 2.03 drivers i thought all seemed fine but the same problem like yours... The card is being recognized BUT it send packets out but not receiving!!!
Even if u were in a DHCP environment it would get an IP but thats all about it at the best case scenario!
I installed the oroginal BIOS and an image of my drive and all was fine!
I tried all kind of combinations but there is a problem with all newer BIOS releases in nforce2 chipset and the net card!
A friend with the ASUS deluxe has the same problen on a brand new just purchased MB card!
I ve written to NVIDIA and CHAINTECH and i m waiting for an answer! It has to do with the BIOS version and drivers! It seemed that Nvidia nforce2 drivers v1 were working better than all the newer ones!
I ll keep you posted.... Let me know if you find anything yourself.. U re not doing anything wrong... I haver to use a second NIC card to use my DSL modem! Go figure... It seems now no matter i do nothing works for the card!

Um I have 2 8rda+, both running latest bios (3609) and the 2.03 drivers and NEITHER have any issues with the on board NIC or anything else for that mater!

U might be right!
All of us who rushed and bought nforce2 v1 and not the nforce2 Ultra400 ( v2 ) it seems we do have the problem... I managed to resolve it by using for a friend ( has the APOGEE) the windows update ( seemed that had a driver for nvidia - system ) and it worked for few days but noe the same... I m still testing things to narrow down which has the problem xp or nvidia... I ll be trying the xpsp1a with nfroce drivers 1 first...
lets see...

Not many, if ANYONE has a version 2.0 in the USA right now.

I have both an ultra 400 and an older revision and don't have a problem with either.

I have the nVidia MCP nic enabled on my a7n8x-deluxe2.0. Uberbios by Demulous. 2.03 drivers. It worked up until yesterday, when there was a power flicker. I don't have battery backup or line conditioner, so that can't have been good. I've had the board since april and everything's worked fine so far. No more. Tried many network settings. Auto-assign IP and manual. Networking and internet work properly on 3 other machines (non-nf2) connected to the same switch. None of the others have integrated Lan.

Haven't gotten around to reinstalling XP yet (I was hoping to wait until sp2 for that). Anyone know when the 2nd service pack is due out?

Just wanted to say it was one of the ports on my switch that went out. Not the nf2 ethernet. That sucks because it's my only switch. I may pick up a cheap hub whilst it is rma'd.

You cant get a 5 port switch these days for less then $10 after rebate. Why spend more on a hub?

Where'd you find that switch Mboy? Everywhere in town they're like $40, with hubs @about $20. If it's online, do they ship free to Alaska?

If u lok around, you might even be able to come up with a $10 off coupon for buy.com which means the 5 port switch is yours for shipping
