Howdy folks! I'm running into a bit of an issue with my new Moto G4 phone. I don't know if it's the apps I'm using or Android 6.0.1 or what the issue is but I figured you all might be able to help me. Here's the situation.....

I have quite a bit of music and I've had a good chunk of this music on my old phone which was running Android 4.4.4 and Shuttle for the music player. I had absolutely no issues but that phone also did not have an SD card slot. I have the music saved on flash drives and transferred it over to the new phone and was, again, using Shuttle as the music app.

When I check the music out, I run into a problem. When I look at things under the Artist tab, several of them are correct. However, I have a tab for Blondie...and that one is WAY off. It shows 146 files under that tab. It has all of the blondie music files but also some Bob Seger, and several other albums.

I decided to see if this was a problem just with Shuttle. I tried to use the built-in music player on the phone and it does a similar thing. Most of the artists have the correct number of files, Blondie does not. It still has way over 100 files. That tells me that it's not necessarily an app problem......but I'm not sure what the problem is. I had most of the same albums in Shuttle on Android 4.4.4 and nary a problem with any of them. Everything would show up correctly.

Has anybody had a similar problem? Was it the file structure on the music files? Was it the app? Was it the newer Android 6.0.1? Or could it be a problem with the file system and/or apps reading from the SD card? I'm not sure what to do to fix it but I haven't found a lot of info online so far to suggest a fix. I just thought I would check to see if any of you might've had a similar problem in the past? Thanks a lot for reading this! I appreciate any help I can get!

So what's the solution, and/or the cause of the problem? Someone might come here via search in the future and would love to hear what you got :)

The solution was for me to not be an idiot. lol I put the micro sd card straight in the phone and it was ready to work. However, just to check, I finally did a format on it from within the phone. After I did that and transferred the music back over, everything showed up correctly. I don't know whether it's always the best idea to format before using them but in this case, it seemed to do the trick. Lesson learned for the future. :)
