I seem to be having trouble with my monitor or video card. when the system is turned off the monitor has a problem turning on. it seems as if it is having a problem going from Analog signal to digital.

it will flash on for like 1/4th a second then go black. i also can't get the user controls ont he monitor to come up.

i suspect its the monitor (a Samsung 225BW). wich kinda blows since its not that old.

So any ideas on fixing it? is it possible to fix?

If the system is off then the monitor will drop into standby mode fairly quick untill it detects a signal from the PC. Monitors don't ussualy want to be on unless the PC is on.

can't you still hit themenu on the monitor to bring i tup?

problem thats happening is once it drops into standby sometimes it won't come up. IF i turn off the power then turn it back on its flashes on for like 1/3 a second. Every now and then if i unplug it from the computer and put it back it sometimes works.

i suspect its the monitor. just hate to spend $200 for a new monitor to find out its the Video card then have to spend another $200 or so.
