Trouble with Lexmark Optra E310, USB port + Windows 98

Computer is a Compaq Deskpro 500.

So I know this printer works with Win98 because it was on another PC with 98 on it before I moved it to this other one. I'm trying to install the printer software but when it asks which port I want to use, it doesn't give me the USB port as an option. Only LPT1, COM1 + 2, and print to file. This PC already has a forms printer attached to it that needs to use LPT1 so that's not an option. If you plug the printer into the USB port and turn it on, windows finds it right away, but then I have the port problem during the install. Ideas?

Cancel the automatic driver install, and use the Add Printer routine, and you should be able to create a port.

I tried that. When I try to create a port during the add printer wizard it only asks for a port name, not the type of port. So I name it 'USB001' but it still doesn't do anything when you go to print....

...getting closer and closer to just re-installing windows...don't make me do it people!
