Trouble with KVM switch

I access my two systems via a 2port IoGear Miniview KVM switch. I also have them networked together for the sole purpose of extra storage and file sharing.

Since I bought the thing from IoGear I have been having the following problem: With both systems running, whenever I use the switch to move from one system to the other, I get what IoGear tells me is a "hiccup". The switch.....independent of my direction, keeps switching from one system to the other by itself. The only way I can stop it is to keep pressing on switch on the side which accesses the system I'm trying to reach...after about 4 tries it will settle down.

The line I'm getting from IoGEAR......is that "in a perfect world, everything runs perfectly"..literally, can you believe that?...and that when the switch is unplugging the keyboard, mouse and monitor from one system and plugging it into another...that there is sometimes a 'hiccup'. Well this 'hiccup' is all the time. They also told me to make sure that I have updated Windows, ya da ya da ya da...............

Is this normal for a KVM switch?....I had understood that this was one of the better 2port KVM switches out there. Any ideas other than getting another switch from another manufacturer? If so, from whom? Thanks

There are 2 types of KVM

Cheap and Good

Cheap - when you switch off the computer, the KVM ignores it and the PC thinks there is no mouse/KB attached. Causes many problems.

Good - When you which off a computer, KVM fools PC into thinking there is a mouse and KB sitting there idle. Should work on all systems.

That is definitely not normal behaviour.

I have a different hicup w/ my Belkin OmniCube 4-port KVM. When I switch sometimes the mouse is not recognized. I've got an easier fix where I just have to unplug & replug in the mouse from the KVM.

Or switch around until it starts working again. Amazingly enough this is in their FAQ's!!

On the subject of good KVM's, I have a 2-port Linksys that performed flawlessly. Too bad I needed a 4-port. Don't like their design where the computer connections stick out the side. What designer came up with that?
