Trouble with insane fans and standby

Ok, so here's the thing... last night I put my computer on standby mode (it's not a laptop by the way)... then the next day, I press the power button on the machine to power it up and all I hear is my CPU fan going nuts (normally i can barely hear the CPU fan while the computer's on, but this time I could really hear that CPU fan spinning like crazy).

That sort of scared me so I shut down the computer and waited about 5-6 minutes for it to cool down a bit. Next thing I know, I try turning on the computer and the monitor doesnt respond (its still in standby mode).... The computer itself is on and running and everything, but the screen is black. So I turn off the computer again and wait a few more minutes... I power it back up and I get to the POST screen where it gives me a message saying:

"Warning System Boot Fail" and it gives me the choice of 'F1 to continue' or 'DEL to enter BIOS'...

What could that possibly be? I have my computer up and running now (it's working fine as it booted right into windows after that POST message). I'm still scared on what I could have possibly have done to damage my computer (it's fairly new as I built it about a week ago).

Thank you everyone!

Check the HSF on your CPU - sounds like it might have come loose.

Make sure that the mounting pins are inserted properly.

Good luck!
