I just bought a PowerColor HD6850 to use with my Insignia 26" HDTV and I cant seem to get it to display in 1080p. I have installed catalyst 11.2 and tried all the other drivers supported with this card to no avail.

I have an idea of what is going on, but I dont know how to get passed it. I believe the signal is being output at 60Hz when it should be output as 59Hz for the TV to recognize the signal. There are no options in catalyst to switch to 59hz.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the card to output a 59Hz signal to the TV?

Im running windows XP it shows the display during boot and the TV even shows 1080p in the upper righthand corner until it loads the desktop, then I get blank screen showing no signal. I have tried switching between HDMI port and DVI -> HDMI adapter, neither seemed to work.

Yeah with an old driver it worked, I think it was 10.5, but any newer it exhibited the same behavior.
Unfortunately the HD6850 is unsupported by the 10.5 driver.

Guess the 11.12 thing was a typo unless you drive a Delorian :)

Things you could try to see if any of them help

Remove current ATI drivers
Use a driver sweeping program to remove the leftovers
Install the latest driver which are 11.2's

You could also do the boot into safe mode and do the show hidden device trick to sweep your system for ghost devices....Google it for instructions if needed.

Under display options,at the bottom change it to list all possible modes, hit apply and then the 59Hz will be available under displays properties

I tried this and it only shows 75Hz,72Hz,60Hz,56Hz, and 30Hz. When I had the HD5770 running there was an option for 59Hz but with the new driver, there is no option. If I choose 56Hz it limits me to 800 x 600 rez.

Is there maybe an aftermarket program other than catalyst that works with the driver I could try that?
