Whenever i am watching a movie off the HD on my computer, the movie slows down every time the HD reads from the buffer. This happens about every 5-15 seconds and messes the whole movie experience up.I am using Media Player 6.4 and it did the same thing with Media Player 7. Anyone tell me what to set or what will help stop this?
BTW:
P3 700 @ 875
Asus CUSL2
384mb of Ram
IBM Deskstar 45gig
Windows 2000

I had the same thing, however it was on a way slower computer (Celery300). It doesn't happen with my new one, and it shouldn't happen with yours.

Try setting the DivX quality to a lower value. Right-click on the movie, properties, advanced (or similar, I'm using a German system so I don't know exactly), DivX MPEG4 Video Decompressor, and select a lower quality. There doesn't seem to be a noticable difference in qualtiy between the lowest and the highest setting.

Im guessing something with motherbaord makes system stop much when waiting for IDE device? Mabe BIOS setting or something, somebody must know how to fix it.

My Dads SCSI drives are like that, when it reads alot the mouse will keep stopping, every split second like its going at 5fps or something

Hmm ... you did defrag your drive, didn't you?
Is UDMA turned on? You can find out by looking into the settings of your IDE channels in the device manager, I think.

Besides that, I don't really know I'm afraid.
