<< did you check use digital out in the mixer? >>

do you mean "digital output only" under advanced when you click on the tray icon?

I don't use SB but if I remember correctly from
seeing something on TechTV you have to enable it.
I think they said that there is a "menu" if you
click on the top right side of the SB control
panel and there it is possible to enable digital out.
I hope it helps, I just wish I had better memory.

How well does your system run? Do you notice a significant increase in performance using those 2 IBM 60GXP in RAID 0?
I have just started building exactly the same system, so curious.

i have checked the "digital output only: box ..,and no sound is outputted with it checked or not checked...ihaven't run any benchmarks on the hd's or nething....my system seems to be running fast...but mylast computer was significantly worse, and i haven't tried this without the raid...so i have nothing to compare ti to...sorry...it is running a little hotter then i'd like it though often it is in the upper 40's...sometimes even gets up to 50's

...any other ideas?

What heatsink/fan you using?
What case you using?
I would keep the whole lot cool by installing 3/4 fans inside the case. I beleive you need some blowing and some intaking.
I would get a better hsf.

delta 30cfm fan
and kanie hedgehog heatsink
i only have 2 case fans...one on either side...and the powersupply has 2 fans
the case is imt 4000 .... www.colorcases.com i think has it...the airdflow is kinda restricted by my 2 non-rounded ide cables...that could be the prob...

ne other ideas on the sound...i really wanna watch dvd's with 5.1
