Trouble with Booting Windows 98 Special Edition

Hi. How do I get the boot up menu to come up when running Windows 98 SE? The menu I'm talking about is the one that gives you the choice of going into safe mode, command prompt only, etc. It seems that the only way that I've managed to get this menu so far is by turning off the machine while its booting up and then turning it back on again. This is hardly a practical method. I remember other flavours of windows required the user to simply hit F8. Not so with special edition.
Thanks.

F6 or control key (Ctrl) hold it after the BIOS post completes and right when you see the Starting windows 98 on the screen (if your timing is good try to get it a little before...

That will give you the option screen

Windows 98 Second Edition...

Hit F5 as soon as POST completes to bring up the boot menu.
