Trouble with Audio 2.1 Speaker System

I am using a 2.1 speaker system. The three choices for the configuration are:
1) Stereo
2) Quadrophonic
3) 5.1 Speaker

There is no option for a 2.1 speaker. Using option 2 or 3 gives me sound left and right but none from the subwoofer. Does anybody have any ideas as to why it will not work.

A 2.1 speaker should work on the 5.1 setting shouldn't it?

If it has only one plug, then you should set it to stereo. Typical 2.1 speaker setups have the subwoofer running off the stereo signal, and not off a dedicated signal.

Thanks,

You are correct. I set it back to Stereo and turned the bass up and it worked.
