Trouble with ATI Radeon 32MB DDR/Epox 8k7a

I just bought a new ATI Radeon 32 MB DDR to replace my Voodoo3/2000. Its behaviour is very funny with my Epox-8k7a. During boot sequence, as soon as the pc start accessing the card, it starts generating a high frequency sound (similar to that of fly back transformers in old TVs). It modulates with the pc activity also. Only once I could boot my PC successfully (with it). Strange thing is that it works just fine with my second machine (ABIT-BH6/Cely-550) and UT plays excellent in it compared to my Voodoo3/AMD-1.4G.

Any idea what could be wrong with it ?

Due to the very nature of the sound, I could not figure out its source. I did remove all PCI cards and harddisks, from the system and tried to boot (with only motherboard and this AGP card). Still its behavior was the same. Also I confirmed that this sound is not from any of the fans.

Motheboard is already upgraded with the latest (Mar, 2002) BIOS. Now I am checking other forums like www.rage3d.com to find a clue.

BTW, is there anybody using this combination succesfully?

I'd say your power supply unit is running out of 3.3V juice. Many people use inadequate PSUs - you should have 25 amperes on +5V and at least 170 watts allowance on +5/+3.3 combined.

i've been using my epox 8k7a for almost a year now. i've had a tnt2 m64, 64mb radeon vivo, voodoo5 5500, & radeon 8500. i have not experienced any problems with the radeons i've had in there. i have no idea. just check there is nothing loose and all connections are tight. if the sound keping on chirping... i would not stick it back in. the last thing u want it a campfire in ur rig.
