trouble with ATI DVD software(Radeon 64MB)

Black screen and no sound, but the disc is spinning. Powerdvd on the same PC works though, i used to have an LE which gives the same result, so it must be something among the rest of my hardware or software that is screwed,

I'd say make sure you have the multimedia update from Ati's site, then try loading the DVD player
