Trouble with a 2 port KVM switch

I recently purchased an IOGEAR MiniView 2port KVM switch (USB) so that I could share my keyboard, mouse and Monitor between my two systems.

The older Pent II 350MHZ runs Win98, the newer PentIII 1ghz, runs WinME.

With both systems on, when I switch from one to the other the switch will do what IOGEAR calls a 'hiccup'...in other words, the switch starts a cycle of switching (on its own) from one cpu to the other.......very annoying. The only way I can stop it is to repeatedly hit the button to the cpu I'm trying to access. I know IOGEAR calls it a 'hiccup' because I wrote them asking about the problem. Their response was that "in a perfect world the unplugging of the mouse, keyboard and Monitor from one system and the plugging into another should run flawlessly, but in reality the 'hiccup' is quite common".

Have any of you out there with a similar set up experienced this problem? Do you think its more a factor of IOGEAR's design than the nature of a 2port KVM switch?
