components

2.4ghz celD
512x2 coursair value select
abit is7-e2

I can get the celeron up to 3.15ghz stable with cpu/dram ratio of 4:5
So..I decided to try 1:1 timings but for some reason I can't get it to clock past ~160mhz with these timings as it'll reboot from bios and just beep before post??? It would seem like the system would have easier time since the ram is running slower...odd

anyone have ideas?

thx

its stable up to 220mhz with 4:5 timings...so it should have no problems doing 1:1 timings with this processor

The nature of a celeron is not to overclock. Its to be cheap. Drinking two cups of watered down beer is not going to get you much more than drinking one cup. I understand you want more speed, we all do, but we dont buy celerons to do that. All you can really do is keep it stable.

Consider selling the chip and motherboard and paying the differance for a AMD 3000+ + nForce Ultra and overclock THAT. You'll get more than your moneys worth and a much faster and more stable system that will outlast that celeron by a matter of years.

The "nature" of any cpu by any manufacture isn't to overclock. Celerons are designed to be cheap, correct, but they have always been built on the latest core technology but simply hampered. By their very design they are good overlockers

They haven't? People have been buying Celerons since the first 266 cache less Celeron was released because it was has always been a good overclocker at a decent price. Is the price still decent? No, not really but it doesn't change the fact that they are still overclock very well

See now your just being presumptuous like your last couple of posts. You have NO idea what this system is for and more importantly WHO it is for. You come to a thread where an individual is simply asking a tech question and you badger her/him informing them that their equipment isn't good enough and that they should sell it for something of your choice. Do you REALIZE what kind of person that makes you sound like? I'd hate to see how your treat people in everyday life.

If you can't help the person who is asking a question then DON'T POST. By the looks of it I'm probably saying this for multiple people who you decide to insert your useless ideas into their threads.
