Trouble w/ File and Print Sharing in Windows 98 SE, plus XP Pro

Hey folks, I have three PCs networked together using a Router/Switch combo, all PCs are accessing the internet just fine through DSL, and the two XP Pro computers (my tower and laptop) are sharing files just fine.. also they both can see the other tower on the network, but when I try to access it it says :

//[computer name] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

Also, when I go to the network neighborhood in the 98 box, it shows itself in the workgroup, but the two XP boxes aren't there...

Now I think I should have everything set up right maybe but I am not too sure (I'm used to 2000/XP more than 98). I have TCP/IP and NetBEUI installed on the 98 machine, everything is set to obtain IP address dynamically from the router. Again, it is accessing the internet just fine, but it cannot access the two other XP machines.

Anyone know what I need to do to get this working? Thanks, and advice is appreciated!

the Win98 machine is trying to login to the XP machines to access the file shares, you either have to enable the guest account on XP or create a new user on the XP machines with the user/pass you use to login to the win98 machine. or maybe you have to make an account on the xp machines that is the name of the win98 box on the network

just suggestions, not 100% sure of the answer

Actually, I don't think it's that because the 98 machine is not even seeing the XP machines on the network, I.E. going to the network neighborhood all that you see is one machine, yourself, and the other ones are not there... Also I've noticed that after a while of it running, the 98 machine disappears out of the workgroup when you try to go to it more..

Also I have tried creating a new account of the same user name as the 98 machine on the xp machines, but because the 98 machine simply can't see the other computers it didn't matter any way... what else could be causing this, other than that either 1) the 98 machine is not set up right, or 2) it is not compatible to be networked with the XP machines?
