Trouble starting Windows 98 after Nero install attempt

Having trouble getting computer to load Windows after Nero install. I tried to load Nero, it didn't work, then tried to uninstall it using it's uninstaller and it said it couldn't find the uninstall log file, I forget the name of it. I then attempted to install again so I could make one more attempt to uninstall it to no avail. I'm able to get it to boot into Safe mode but if I go through the step by step confirmation and try eliminating the startup device drivers (config.sys), (autoexec.bat), Nortan's virus scan, it doesn't make a difference, if I answer no to load all windows drivers it will go into windows safe mode, these are the drivers windows loads. Are there any that should be stopped from loading??

The computer is a Gateway PIII 500, 128mb ram, windows 98 4.10.1998

well I tried not loading any of the .vxd's and it still wouldn't start windows...I guess later today I'll be doing the reinstall bs
