ok first off, PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM ARE NICE!!!!! i was just browsing posts and noticed that in general you guys are like chums, not the fl@mers found in many other parts of the forum. i gotta give you guys mad props!!!

aite, my hardware:
rg-1100 broadband gateway
orinoco gold pc card
orinoco pci adapter
(os is win98 se)

i'm just trying to get the first system working using this broadband gateway. its a no go. i get the drivers installed, alla the software seems to work fine. The pc card itself seems to be on the fritz, as most of the time i get a code 10 "this device is neither not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed". It seems to work everytime i immediately finish installing drivers again and on the reboot. but after that i always get this code ten. The first time it worked I had a very strong signal. the 2 times after it had the weakest signal that it could register (according to the little bars from the orinoco software). The card diagnostic part of the orinoco software checks the pc card out with a clean bill of health whenver i don't get the code 10. The one time i got the strongest signal, i tried connecting to the internet (as i had no other test that i knew of to see if it was working) and that didn't work either 🙁.

wtf is goin on!!!!!! i have no idea. i thought that the orinoco wireless networking gear was pretty solid stuff by reputation. help me out. please! thanks ahead of time.

Check the System properties; see if you have any IRQ conflict.

Try an other PCI slot. If you have a Laptop, try the PCMCIA card by it self.

Otherwise call Agere support, you probably have a defective adapter, or card.
