trouble reinstalling via usb

Trying to reinstall Windows 7 on a Dell l502x. It is asking for drivers? An apparent fix is to use usb 2.0 but this machine doesn't have any. Also the DVD drive is busted. Any other way to install?

You should be able to force the usb 3 controller into usb2 mode in the bios. Once install is done then you can change them back to usb3

The only other way is to pull the hard drive, plug it into another machines (make sure no drives are plugged in) do the install until the first reboot.
shut the machine down put the drive back into the laptop and continue that way

You can add drivers to the install image too, I believe (add the USB3 drivers needed for your system.)

While that is true, its not the easiest to do if you are not familiar with working with DISM. plus you have to make sure that it is added to the boot image and not the main install image
