Trouble Playing Games

I recently built a new system and it seemed to be going well however, it crashes when playing some games. I play Diablo 3 for hours on end and no problems. I play Witcher 3 for about 45 min and my system freezes. just flashing cpu led and dram led then reboot or it just sits there. not overheating. monitored those temps. I sit around 41 celcius when playing Witcher 3. Any ideas? My system is stock speeds and consists of:

Windows 8.1

ASUS X99-A mobo
I7 5820k
G.SKILL DDR4 2400mhz (OC) RAM - 2 x 4 GB sticks (running at 2133)
EVGA GTX 970
H100i CORSAIR cooler
Rosewill Photon-850 full modular power supply
Kingston 120gb SSD for OS
2tb WD black for programs
INWIN 707 case

41 degrees on what component? Just because temps are OK on one component doesn't mean they're OK on all components.

True that. 41 degrees on cpu and about 60 on gpu. best part is I have ran stress tests and been fine. Prime 95 for 1 hour and furmark for 45 mins or so. I can run them longer if needed but im sure it will be fine. have even run intel burn test and furmark simultaneously for about 30 min with no probs.

That CPU will run much hotter than 41 degrees under stress, even with that cooler IMO. Run the Intel burn test and use a program like CPUID Hardware Monitor to see how hot the cores are getting.

I just got up. Let memtest86+ run last night for 12 hours, no errors. Running intel burn test now. 3 tests in and only two cores are in the 50 range. Highest is 53.

Good. So if it is only crashing in games, should be narrowed down to video card and vc drivers. Run a game and hw monitor should tell you how hot your card is getting. If it's not too hot, you may want to try different drivers.

so I used HW Monitor to see how hot it got playing Diablo 3 and it got up to 70 degrees and fan was not kicking in. thinking this may have been the problem. I got rid of MSI afterburner and got EVGA Precision X since its from the manufacturer of the card. set the fan to curve mode and set the temp fan speeds myself and I got a full two hours of Witcher 3 play time and no crash. highest temps on GPU was 60 degrees. ill test on some more games when I get back from store.
