trouble overclocking my q6600

hey guys, i just upgraded my system, this is my current setup
intel Q6600 G0
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L motherboard (f8 bios)
G.SKILL 4GB 1000 (PC2 8000) ram


i got it to 3ghz by doing 9x333 last week but i upgraded bios (from f4 to f8) and now it seems to not want to do it or something.. (keeps restarting in loops and resetting bios to default)

Multiplier - 9x

-System Multiplier (SPD) - auto

what g.skill says the specs are :
Cas Latency 5
Timing 5-5-5-15
Voltage 2.0V - 2.1V


Voltages:
-Vcore - 1.2375
-Cpu Termination - 1.2
-cpu refrence - 0.805
MCH / ICH
-MCH core - 1.1
-ICH i/o - 1.55

Dram volt
-1.8 (auto)


any tips on what i should up or what i should do to get to atleast 3.0 or 3.2 stable?

What is your VID? Keep it at 2.4GHz and run CoreTemp and find your VID. That should be your base voltage for starting your OC. Once you get the motherboard to give your proc what the VID is (with vdroop and everything) you should then be able to achieve 3.0GHz without any problem. Once you find it stable at 3.0GHz, start lowering your voltage little by little to find the lowest volts required for your OC

You can go up to 1.5 vcore on that thing. Give it a little more juice.

i changed some settings and its booting now

fsb 360x9 (3.24ghz) - BSOD after 5 mins of prime 95 testing

now its at 333x9 (3.0ghz)
system multiplier (SPD) was on auto and it was doing 1000mhz i changed it to 2.40b and that does 800mhz
Vcore 1.29
vram 2.0

cpuz says this about my ram
dram frequency 360mhz
fsb:dram 5:6
5-5-5-15

what should i tweak further?

That ram is rated to run as high as 500mhz. 1:1 is what you want, so that's good. Just make sure to watch your temps using something like Coretemp or HWMonitor since you're raising the voltage. 71c is the threshold for that cpu.

lowered vcore to 1.29 and fsb to 333

time to test

how do i get 1:1?
its at 5:6 now that i changed it down with the fsb
im confused

If you have your FSB at 333, leave the ratio at 5:6 or see if you can change it to 2:3. Also manually put the DRAM voltage at 2.0V if you use a 2:3 ratio. If you keep it at a 5:6 ratio using a 333 FSB, then leave the DRAM voltage to auto, or 1.8V.

ok cool, system running stable for 45minutes so far at 3.0ghz doing 55c
i will change to 2:3 tomorrow and see if it runs stable
