I have a HP laptops on WinXP Home

anyways it has a 802.11b/g network card, and i have a 802.11b/g access point. I also have a 2nd laptop that is only 802.11b and it connects to the network reliably and with a good signal.

This one laptop however sometimes cant view the network, then it might connect to the network 15minutes later, then drop the wireless signal again, and it won't be viewable, so i have no idea whats going on, but my guess is the wireless psmia card i obught is faulty, since even while the net is working its link LED is never lit.

well just wondering any of your thoughts, and btw i know theres no interference since i unplugges just about everything in the house.

Make sure the 802.1x authentication is off. Presuming you network doesn't need it. If the authentication is on then you will start and drop signal often.

If that doesn't help you might want to setup an ssid for your network and encryption (unless you already have...). Generally my network has worked much better once I moved from the default unsecured to the secured, named network.
