Hello, everyone. I've been trying to work out the kinks in this mini network, but the problems are very puzzling. First off, I'm an extreme newbie when it comes to networking, I've only got this far with my friend's help, and even he's not a vet at networking so let's begin...
My main computer (the one on my rigs page) seems to have trouble working with the built in nic and an additional nic. I get an error during post about the master/slave drives on the secondary ide channel conflicting. I can boot into windows xp by disconnecting the c/o cable then reinserting the cable after entering xp but then some new problems arise while in windows.
It seems I cannot have my connection to the internet enabled and play over an ipx network (Starcraft) at the same time, I'm really at a loss here. Any suggestions? Well, here are the specs for both computers
Main computer:
ECS K7S5A
Built in lan (Sis900)
Netgear FA312
Verizon DSL
Windows XP
Second computer:
Abit BE6
Netgear EA201 (ISA NIC)
WinXp

One last thing. Assuming I can get this setup to work, would I be able to connect a third pc to this lan by installing a third NIC or would I be better off just buying a router/switch?

I also have a few more problems but as it's 4:30 in the morning, I'm too tired to remember so I'll problebly be editing this message with whatever other problems that pop up. Thanks very much in advance.
