Let me rephrase something. I am "just" the senior account manager. Being an account manager isn't a hard thing, and I'm not naive enough to think my employer couldn't replace me. The only "important" thing is that I have a life to support, a g/f that I want to marry, and kids I want to have someday. Oh, and i would like the trip along the way to be nice. I don't need people making any bad associations to me such as "software pirate" even if its an irrelevant accusation like this one. This post is to correct you and your reaction to my post. ATTENTION! DO not accuse people publically, and so directly, about crimes. Seems to me, you view software piracing as such a common thing that its no big deal to call someone out as a pirate. Maybe your the pirate? I'm not accusing you of anything.
Hairtrigger, you are the one who accused me of pirating! What is your point? I know and can prove that I bought, from Best Buy, a legitimate copy of UT2K3 and i find it funny that someone has the gall to post a response like this. I have seen quite a few posts that seem "driven" by someone wanting to crack a program, and I thought that to myself, but I didnt get on the message board and try and blow the whistle. I am hairtriggered and cranky because I have been accused of something I am not doing. Go accuse someone of robbing a bank in a public forum and see how they react. I don't know what kind of federal agents look at these boards and aggregate information on possible software pirates. How stupid would someone be to put up a red flag like that in such a widely read forum? I sure as hell am not doing that.
Get a life and don't be so quick to judge someone. I'm pissed off that people like you are so "hairtrigger and cranky" to attempt to "call out" someone you know nothing about. Great detective work here sherlock.
One, no I didn't know that Unreal 2K3 didn't need access the CD. That's interesting. I applied the patch and it works fine without the cd. Thanks for those who pointed out the patch without trying to "call me out" as a lier/pirate.
Two, I am cranky because of this. I can't believe I couldn't post this question without getting flamed. This response to me was so out of left field and "immature" that i did hairtrigger react. still, eat me.
Third, "Immature"? yea, i can be perveted and my gf loves me for it. I can act like a little kid sometimes. But I have learned in my life not to be so quick to judge people, especially when I don't know the truth. Software piracing is a crime, pal, and it is something I don't want to be known as. So regardless if I am innocent or covering my ass, I don't want to be known as a software pirate. Nor do I want to be known as a pedafile, rapist, car thief, etc.
Fourth, My fellow employees are on this board as well. If someone would accuse me of something like this in the workplace, you'd be damn sure I would be calling my attornies. I can keep wasting your time about this if you want me too. If you reply again, I win, cause you are spending more time on me.

Fifth, You can't just "call people out" on crimes that carry penalties that affect people's entire lives. You might be able to "call someone out" if they took a dump and didn't flush.
I might be overreacting, but its for a reason.
