trouble installing sbc yahoo/ATT DSL---

I am helping a friend install his DSL he ordered from SBC and he is having a very strange problem...basically, everything is all set up. he has filters on all the phones, the router/modem lights are all on, and everything seems right. But when you open up IE as stated to go thru the connection wizard, it reads that the page cannot be displayed. i have called sbc many times and all they said is be sure to take down any firewalls like norton, etc. I have done that and i even tried going to the default gateway to see if i could change the setting as they told me to. nothing seems to be working..any tips?

PS. i know this belongs in the newtorking board, but this gets far more attention it seems. thanks

i have had the same problem on a DSL installation for a friend. I talked to SBC again today, and they determined they have a system problem on their end they will fix in th next 24 hours before we can be up and running. Call SBC.

I have ATT/SBC DSL. I had the same problem. For some reason, when you log-in to ATT, you have to use the email address as your username. So the username is not xxxxx, it was xxxxx@sbcglobal.net. The password is no different.
