i spilled water all over my video card because one of the hose clamps was bad

anyways i thought i had dryed it all up, but i didn't notice that some water had gotten inside the agp and pci slots

so basically my GF4 is now totally fryed
and the motherboard seems to have issues even with a good video card now

i get flickering on the desktop and in the bios

any ideas ??

you think my motherboard is shot too ?

This is not my day, i just got my pinky finger sucked into a 120mm fan
freakin sliced my finger up, i tellya

I hope something on the motherboard isn't fryed too

looks like water mighta gotten on the little resistors/capacitors around the agp slot

my fear is that the water, when given a charge, will leave a conductive residue even after it is dryed up

as a last resort i will probably totally uninstall the motherboard and look for any watermarks/residue over traces and such

but anyways, atleast I got my socket A waterblock modified to fit my P4 motherboard on the existing sp-94 mounts :)

and my temps are a good 10-15c lower without the pelts :)

yes your dangerous....had a simlar problem the other night when I installed my water stuff....but I haridried the system for 15 min and let it dry why'll I was leak testing it for anymore leaks overnight. then I dodged a bullet when I forgot to tighten a hose clamp on my radiator and it was leaking all night while the system was running thanks goodness it wasn't anywhere near the mother board.

but all is good in water cooling land cool temps wicked fast overclock :D.

by the way how long did you wait after the water dried to reboot the system?

i spilled water all over my video card because one of the hose clamps was bad

I don't even use hose clamps an never had a problem in fact it's a royal PAIN to get the hoses off water blocks cause it's so tight.. wierd

i just got my pinky finger sucked into a 120mm fan

What a fan powerful enough to suck in your fingers!!:p

Anyway don't worry, just set all wet componets out to dry about 48 hours before applying electicity to them and everything should be fine. My son srayed his COMP out with a water hose after I told him to use "the hose in the garage" ,meaning air hose to clean dust out, and after dying it booted perfect.

haha thanks
yeah i need to look for any water marks and clean them off with alcohol so that i am sure that the water didn't pick up any solder/resin deposits and create a connection anywhere (had this happen as a result of condensation in the past )

yeah the liquid was distilled water with water wetter added :)
but nomatter how clean the water was there was all kinds of dust/particles on the motherboard

I may never go water until absolutely necessary. High maintenance
Really. So far none for me. Don't be discouraged by Soulkeeper, he is a #1 technology destructor around here. Sometimes it seems he is doing it for the pure fun and entertainment.
