trouble installing heatsink on BArton 2500

I just got this processor today with the stock heatsink and processor and I'm trying to install it but I can only get 1 part of the retention clip in (the part with that u can use a tool to put it in). I cannot get the other side of the retention clip in, no matter how hard i try. I'm sure that the heatsink is on the processor correctly, but the clip won't go in. I'm afraid to se too much force on the clip cause i don't wanna break the CPU. Any tips for me to get it working?

Are you sure the HS is facing the right way? There's a "step" on the HS. This step fits OVER the edge of the CPU socket.

Here's what I do.

Lower HS at an angle, with REAR (PLAIN end of clip) of HS closest to socket. Engage rear of clip on socket finger. Lower front of HS down, ensuring step in HS is OVER and not ON TOP OF CPU socket.

Hold top of HS w/left hand, and with right hand, use fingers/tool to lower clip. You will have to exert some pressure. As long as you don't move the HS at all, you won't hurt anything.

Press, man, PRESS! 🙂

Thanks alot!!! 🙂 I followed ur instructions and it went on perfectly. Guys like you should write the instructions on putting on heatsinks. The AMD instructions suck
