The computer starts up fine, but never wakes the monitor. I assume it is something to do with bios settings or a memory issue, but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Yes it can, I have a wacked processor that will post and show screen up to where it looks for a active partition with a OS. Then it hangs the machine.

There are a lot of inbetweens.

I've definitely installed the neatsink and fan properly. I tried them with my old processor. I guess I need to see if the processor works in another machine to verify that it is functional.

It could be a crap power supply. That's what happened to me recently. Machine starts up, but no video. Definitely wasn't the video card. Had a feeling it was the PSU. Got a quality Antec one and everything works.

Check your ram also. My system wouldn't post when I installed some new corsair pc4000 but when I threw in some pc3200 in with it it posted fine.

Power supply is new and powerful enough. I thought about the ram, but it works with my older processor. It's pc2700. Shouldn't be that, but who knows. Thanks everyone for all the input. I am at least narrowing in on possible problems.

I didn't try that, but the other machine has the same mobo. It just must be a problem with my chip. I know the other system started right up again when I put the other 2500 back into it. Anyway I can get the processor checked?
