Trouble in the bedroom...

Ok this is a little embaressing.

I am a 21 year old male who has trouble staying "up" when amorous with a female. I can get hard, its just that I lose my erection once things start getting hot.

Tonight for example I invited a girl over to watch a movie and we started making out later on. Then when I was taking off my pants I completely lost it. I also completely lost interest in hooking up with her after that, and I explained to her why I wasn't into it anymore (she was completely understanding) but it was still really embaressing. I am very much attracted to her, so its not like it was a "forced" hookup.

It's not like I'm hooking up with that many girls, this has happened with the 3 girls I've been with in the past 6 months or so. By the way, I am taking Propecia to hopefully prevent future hairloss (my dad is bald)... does anyone know if this actually affects sexual function? Do you think it's just me being nervous and that I need to relax more? Btw I'm a virgin.

I'm being completely serious here and hopefully you guys & gals can suggest something, though I understand I set myself up for some cracks by asking this...

Go see a doctor first if you think it might be something other than anxiety from it being your first time.

Should a 21 year old really be taking Viagra?

Why not? Many people that age are taking it now. It helps people with dysfunctions, and according to others who are normal in that area it makes sex that much better. There's a booming market for it.

Uh oh, sorry dude. Taken from the Propecia website:

THE MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
Clinical tests showed PROPECIA was very well tolerated. Only a very small number of men had sexual side effects, with each occurring in less than 2% of men. They included less desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen. When the men who had these side effects stopped taking PROPECIA, the side effects went away.

Looks like you fall into that 2%: Perhaps you could actually take Viagra to offset these side effects, or find a different medication. But just because you couldn't keep it up doesn't mean the fun had to stop. There are other methods to making her scream you know

Talk to a doctor. BTW, isn't hair loss passed on from the mother?

Well my mom's brother is bald too. Would I talk to a urologist?

Oh okay. I suppose your general physician could point you in the right direction.

can you masterbate fine? Does that produce similar problems as well? What mood are you in when you do masterbate? What about hooking up with someone? Are you nervous?

Many of these kinds of disorders are related to mental problems, such as nervousness and apprehension. Perhaps you just need to be pushed over that edge.

This sounds more like a psychological block, though the Propecia probably doesn't help. I think almost all those hairloss drugs have sexual side effects; ironic since you're technically taking them so you can still get some. :p

If you were really adamant about getting some, you could walk around to the different clinics and pickup free samples

Yeah I can masterbate just fine, so I don't think it's a physiological problem. Maybe I'm just nervous... but I've hooked up with her before and I didn't feel nervous at all.

you're a virgin and 21 yrs old. being impotent is NOT normal under these circumstance. and it's easy to determine if propecia is the culprit here. did you have erection problems before you started taking propecia?

propecia is a prostate drug, so that would be the second thing i'd think of. the first is anxiety.

Why not? Its for erectile dysfunction I dont think age matters, typically older men have this problem but younger guys do to.

Naw I didn't have erection problems before taking the Propecia. I guess I'm just being anxious, but again I don't feel that way at all.

My greatest worry would be the 'decrease in amount of semen' part. I would think that cooralates with having less seMEN. I mean, you think regular anxiety is bad, wait till you find out your firing blanks :brokenheart:

Actually, impotence is a fairly common occurence in virgin males...the propecia might not be helping, but if you can masturbate while maintaining an erection, then I doubt that's the problem. Sounds more like anxiety, or some other type of psychological block (male erectile disorder).

Talk to a doctor before anything, though. You could try experimenting yourself, and seeing if halting the propecia helps. Then again, who's to say that the halting of the propecia had physiological rather than psychological effects (i.e. you thought stopping it would help, thus you were less anxious and able to maintain the erection). I believe that viagra can be used to deal with impotence caused by propecia, but I could be wrong.
