I own a slot1 Pentium III 550E with 100Mhz FSB and after days of running I am happy to announce to my beloved forum that I have attempted and easily succeeded to overclock@733 mhz, rock steady. The motherboard is a good old stable overclocker too (ABIT BE6) with the legendary Intel 440BX chipset. Points to highlight? The Pentium has no problem at all playing that high reaching a maximum of only 39C after heavy 3D gaming (e.g. Max Payne) or cd writing without any lock ups or stuff like that, showing that it's boots are made for.....overclocking, at the default voltage!(1,65) The memory issue is simple as long as u get PC133 Dimms and then it's the buses section with all the devices connected. Thank god the 440bx gives u the posibility of PCI=FSB/4 that is 133/4= 33,25 mhz exactly the nominal PCI speed value. And here is the only real tough path to go through-the AGP card. With the limited chipset option of AGP=FSB
or FSB*(2/3) the price u get when running at 133 is 89MHz faaaaaaaaaar from that 66mhz the books say. This is why my ATi Radeon VE makes me proud-apart from its excellent framerates, quality and twin monitor capabilities it keeps on working steadily at frequencies where other cards don't even let the system boot
(yeah, GeForce 2 MX 400 I mean, seen it with my eyes). A real monster from ATi showing their teeth to all those OEM manufacturers who create cards that don't even remind you of the chipset they are supposed to be built on. Buy only originals or from famous vendors that is to guarantee chipset quality and maybe more than that in terms of overclocking stability, better quality etc. Loved to share these with you all-kisses
