Trouble flashing bios

I keep getting "Bios file Size doesn't match with Motherboard Bios" when I either attempt to flash in Windows with the utility, or when I try to flash from the floppy.

I have no idea what to do.

Thanks for your help.

You should do some more searches and make sure you've got the right BIOS .bin file for your motherboard, and also the latest flash utility. If not, you could end up hosing your BIOS and not being able to boot up again with that board.

Not sure if this matches up to your board, but there are several BIOS files available on this forum here:

agreed^^^

Bios files have gotten progressively larger with time
The earlier flashers wont do the latest bigger BIOS, and you have a "current" mobo.

Edit: Looks like there are two ways of flashing - Diamond Flash (package)
and "regular" - manual
Note one is 324K the other 710KB
You might be trying to flash the flasher - lol
I also see these are both initial release, so on the US site anyways, the one that came with your mobo is the latest

Bozo,

So you're saying that there is no need to flash my bios? I purchased my mobo in October of last year IIRC. The bios that you linked me to were the exact ones I was trying to flash last night. Those didn't work. Both ways, manually and Diamond Flash did not work. Maybe it is the current version.

Boca,

Thanks for the link. I was wondering though, why hasn't DFI put those on their website? Right now, I am unable to update anything on my board...even the utilities that came out this year in January.
Should the ones you linked me to work?

Thanks.

Yes, they most likely will work on your board, however since they're beta or even modded, I doubt DFI would post them (anything other than their official BIOS). I had an Asus board that it's last official BIOS release was back in 2002. I found many modded and beta BIOS as recent as 2004, and they all worked great. In fact, I saw several performance improvements by going to the new BIOS.

Thanks, I'll try those when I get home.

FYI, I'm doing this because my Mobo temps are showing 48 - 50C idle while my case temp is between 32-34C, and I've read that DFI's temps might be wrong with some mobos. I've re-applied the paste a number of times, but it didn't change much. Turning my fan on high, only drops the temps a few degrees.

Thanks again.

your reply was a bit confusing.
you cant update something that is already there (Aug 27 vers) - that could be your prob - exact same checksum
according to the DFI site there is the initial SAME bios in each method of flashing
there are no other BIOS listed
there is a string at the bottom of your monitor when you first start to boot that is your BIOS info, look for 3827

according to the forum link provided by bocamojo, your temps are actual 10 degrees lower.
they kinda claim a 10/15/04 bios, but not clear.

Since you are not an extreme overclocker (4.0V DIMM) and since they mention many probs with these "unauthorized" BIOS, I would just ignore the false high temps, and not flash. Wait for DFI fix on website only - if it comes at all.
